JYJ, the new unit formed by members of TVXQ — Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu, has sold 20,000 tickets within 20 minutes for their "JYJ Worldwide Concert in Seoul" in light of their debut worldwide album "The Beginning." There were a total of 4 ticket sales for this concert; 1st ticket sales for a portion of the VVIP, VIP and R categories started at 8PM on the 19th.
Before the ticket sales started, online fans commented: "The prices are really too expensive," "What exactly is VVIP?", "Can we really see the performances?" etc. However, the VVIP seats were sold out just moments after the start of the sales, together with the other categories that were sold out within 20 minutes. The cheapest in the 1st ticket sales was the R category, priced at 135,000 won after the addition of 3,000 won for the administrative and handling fees. Despite the shockingly expensive price of the tickets, fans paid the price in order to watch their favorite celebrities perform.
The representative for the concert stated that, "This concert is the start of JYJ moving towards international activities. Therefore, there will be mind-blowing and exciting performances to be shown to the world." The organizer intends to use a circular roof to conceal the performance location; this will be the first time that a dome-like structure would be used for a huge place for events like this. It was also stated that it is for the sake of minimizing the inconvenience the audience will have while watching the performances, hence the provision of a warm indoor venue.
This reason calmed the audience down from complaining about the highly-priced tickets. Furthermore, aren't such services reasonable after paying for the extremely expensive tickets? It seemed that suspicion was raised whether the prices were due to the employment of professionals and prestigious location.
Fans also said that since the scale of the event is so large, the price of the tickets are reasonable. However, it should be remembered that an excellent sound system is not equivalent to excellent music, and shows with renowned directors aren't the only ones that can deliver great performances.
Fans who like TVXQ have waited very long for this day. With 99,999 copies of the limited edition album sold for 41,600 won and moshpit tickets sold for 55,000 won each in Seoul, it's a pity the concert set the ticket prices at such high prices.
The usage of the most advanced light effects, better quality images, adjustable indoor temperature were said to let the audience have the best experience while watching the performances.
However, how the money is being used is still being questioned.
